Kathleen Parker is an opera singer currently based in Brisbane, Queensland. She recently graduated with honours from the Australian Opera Studio and received the Dux prize for 2007-2008.
Kathleen won the Ethel Osborn Vocal Scholarship in October 2008 and is a semi finalist in the More Than Opera German Australian Opera Grant in Melbourne later this year. She will be touring to Tokyo with the Australian Opera Studio in November 2008.
Kathleen offers singing lessons on weekends from her studio in Peregian Springs, QLD. She has five years of teaching experience both privately and in schools around Queensland. Beginners are welcome, as are advanced students, and she can help with audition, concert or exam preparation. Students who would like some assistance with harmony and aural skills will find Kathleen's expertise in these areas most helpful.
Having sung in a number of prestigious choirs over the years including Gondwana Voices, The Australian Voices and the Schola of St. Stephen's Cathedral (Brisbane), Kathleen can help with choral singing, or assist you with learning your parts. Children from 8 years old are most welcome to try singing lessons with Kathleen, who has a library full of music kids will love. Having taught at boys schools Kathleen is great with adolescent voices and choosing music appropriate for boys of all ages to sing.
Students can tailor lessons to suit their individual needs (such as dancers who would like to sing cabaret, bands wanting help with their singing skills, actors wishing to study musical theatre or opera). If you have a favourite song, please feel free to bring the sheet music along to your lesson.
